The Geography Educators of Oxfordshire Group (GEOG) is an exciting new group designed to raise the profile of Geography as a discipline. Our aim is to facilitate knowledge exchange of best practice and recent developments in geographical education. It is intended that anyone with an interest in geography education can be involved and attend events or meetings.
We believe the group will grow organically over time and we are hoping you will want to be part of this exciting project too. The group officially launches in September 2019 and our first open forum event will take place at the University of Oxford’s Department of Education on Wednesday 6th November, 4.30-6pm, FREE (with an invitation to drinks afterwards).
The open forum will focus on ‘What does a broad geography curriculum look like at KS3 and how do we promote passion for the subject’. This will be an opportunity to listen to and share ideas with other geography colleagues.
Resource exchange – it would be great if colleagues attending could bring copies of one resource with them that they would be willing to share with other attendees.
We are planning other exciting events throughout the year culminating in a Summer CPD Conference on 16th June 2020 – please add the date to your diary.
The group has been initiated through a partnership between Burford School Geography Department, Oxfordshire Teachings Schools Alliance (OTSA) and the Department of Education including The Oxford Education Deanery.
Please contact Alex Todd-Jones (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you'd like to find out more.
