Pete Moorhouse, an internationally renowned Early Years Creative Consultant will lead us through the day. https://irresistible-learning.co.uk/
With a renewed focus on curriculum design and creativity within the curriculum, this course will look more deeply at creativity and develop practitioners understanding of what creativity means, its importance and how to best encourage creativity in young learners.
We will explore work with a range of materials including how objects can be used in a multitude of different ways, exploring different possibilities for children to express their imaginations.
Through combining natural and recycled materials or through block play, the child is at the centre of their learning as they use their imagination to create various arrangements, constructions and narratives.
The exploration of materials encourages open ended discovery and a focus on process.
A studio can provide a focal point for encouraging creativity -we will look at examples from schools where children are offered an 'atelier' style studio and the impact that these have had on children's creative explorations. Examples will be given on how a 'studio' space provides a laboratory for trying out ideas, playing with materials, tinkering with and exploring possibilities- a space where children express their creativity by following their interests.
