This half day workshop is one of four workshops designed to give Headteachers, and others with line management responsibility, an understanding of, and the tools, to be able to manage school employees throughout their employment. The workshops are a mix of practical and psychological aspects of people management and are based on a case study to bring the subjects to life in a way that is easy to remember and gives you an opportunity to practice the key concepts of the subject.


This workshop focuses on employee engagement which is a term that is now used widely but is rarely properly understood.


In the workshop you will learn the key drivers of employee engagement and how using this knowledge can improve staff commitment and performance. The workshop will also explore the signs and symptoms of disengagement and what you can do to overcome them.


Day 1 - Wednesday 20th March 2019
Managing Disciplinary Hearings - 9.30am to 12.30pm 
Managing Grievance Hearings - 1.30pm to 4.30pm


Day 2 - Wednesday 26th June 2019
Employee Engagement - 9.30am to 12.30pm
Managing Change - 1.30pm to 4.30pm


Cost: £75 per session

Training Objectives

Attending a half day workshop provides individuals with an opportunity to develop their knowledge and confidence in the following areas:



  • The key drivers of engagement

  • The signs and symptoms of disengagement

  • The cost of disengagement

  • The implications of employees who are ‘actively disengaged’

  • Identifying the level of engagement and priority areas for tackling these issues

  • Link individual engagement to the performance of pupils and the school as a whole

  • How employee engagement can be improved

Learning Outcomes

The learning outcomes for the course are that each participant will be able to:



  • Clarify who has responsibility for staff engagement and the roles that each person plays

  • Understand the impact of poor engagement

  • Understand the link between poor engagement and the performance of pupils

  • Learn how to identify poor engagement and what you can do to improve it
