Course Description

To lead a team effectively and inspire a continual drive towards excellence requires highest quality leadership.


This long-term project will support leaders to deepen their understanding of the multi-faceted nature of their role; ensuring they are able to motivate and inspire their teams, whilst remaining focussed on what matters for young children. The programme has been designed to provide you with many opportunities to reflect upon your own expertise and enrich your professional knowledge of outstanding early years education.


Throughout the course you will be invited to participate in variety of a gap tasks. Each will be designed to support you in your leadership journey and there will be opportunities to share and celebrate the groups learning on a fourth day to be arranged with delegates.


 This course is being run in Oxfordshire for OTSA by Early Excellence.


The three dates are: 13th November, 21st January and 12th March. The fourth session to celebrate and share the groups learning will be agreed with delegates.


The cost for this course is £395+vat.


 


The details of the three days are as follows:
Day 1 - Leading Values and agreeing outstanding practice in the Early Years


The project will begin by establishing clarity about what we want for young children and confident learners through school, taking delegates back to their motivations as educators as well as establishing a clear vision of excellence and strategy for school. The afternoon will explore the key elements of best practice and how the optimum conditions for learning are created for their children. We will then look at current methods of reflection and how they inform priorities for change.


Day 2 – Leading People


During the day we will consider and decide on how to effectively manage and lead others. Methods of mentoring and a range of performance management techniques including staff led action research will be shared and explored. From this, leaders will have begun to design effective staff development programmes as well as raising the profile of Early Years within whole school improvement strategies and the wider Early Years community.


Day 3 – Leading Accountability


A review of current approaches to assessment and how data can be used to inform practice as well as whole school strategy and operational systems. The rationale behind your choice of recording, documenting and reporting progress to internal and external partners, including parents, will be discussed and explored.
